Connecting to God

"Being Born is a Moment, Working Out Our Salvation is a Lifelong Process."

In John 3:5 Jesus says, that we must be born again of the water and the Spirit. Being "born again" is essential, a wonderful experience and where our journey with Jesus begins. But in our fast-paced demanding society, getting connected and staying connected to God, His Church and your family must be a priority and requires a well-designed plan. At Life, we do not just want to see you "born again," we want to assist you in maturing into what God has imagined for your life in Him. We have found that these 10 Connection Points serve as a guide to help you on your journey, to help you lead an overcoming life and help you "work out your own salvation." Start slowly, implement one point at a time, and watch as you grow in God into a dynamic Christ-like person.

1. Build Relationship: Personal Prayer Time and Time in God's Word

Connect with God personally. Don't be bound by a certain number of verses or chapters nor have a minimum or maximum time limit set. Simply have a daily personal time alone with God and His Word.

2. Pray: Corporately

Jesus said, "My house shall be called a House of Prayer." Make His priority your priority. Sign up for one of our weekly prayer shifts at Guest Services. We strongly encourage you to be a part of our weekly Saturday @ Seven Prayer service, which has an open schedule format, from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

3. Mature: Read the Word

David wrote, "Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee."

  • Have a daily devotion plan. Read the Psalms or a Proverb; whatever you choose to read, read it daily and read it to enhance your relationship with God and for direction for your life.
  • Regularly attend Wednesday Evening Christian Education Class. The class is designed to help provide a firm foundation by making available a forum for teaching and discussion of Biblical principles.

4. Submit: Fast

Jesus instructed His disciples, saying, "This kind can come out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting . . ." Fast a favorite food for a specific amount of time. Fast a day or eat only one meal per day. Fast an activity, social media or media in general. Humble yourself before God by making fasting a regular part of your life.

5. Renew: Stay Full of the Spirit

Ask God to renew the infilling of His Spirit in you daily. Paul said, "...stir up the gift that is inside of you." Make sure the Fruit of the Spirit and the Gifts of the Spirit are acitively renewed in your life every day.

6. Invest: In Family

Monday night is Family Night at Life. No activities are placed on our calendar on Mondays to allow our families to spend time together making memories. Play games, ride bikes or just spend time talking. Commit to making Monday a family night in your home.

7. Worship: Love God

Worship is not just what we do on Sundays at Life but it is a part of our daily life. When we worship God we find strength for the day and power to be His light to this world.

8. Reach: Love Others

Jesus said, "The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." We must reach the lost - live your life in a way that your life glows with God's spirit every day and share your testimony of God's love.

9. Serve: Be Involved

Find your place to serve. There is always a place for you to give yourself and something you can do at Life. Commit to sharing your skills, talents and God-given abilities to God by serving and helping others either at Life or in our community. We'll help you find your place, just ask!

10. Touch: Connect with Others

The Book of Acts says, "...they continued steadfastly in the Apostles' Doctrine, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer." Make fellowship with others in the faith a part of your Life experience. Invite someone out to dinner, maybe to your house! Create opportunities in your life for fellowship!
